Valentine’s Day Activities for 2 year olds
1 XO Match
This activity is easy to set up. Simply write the letters X and O with a dry erase marker on your muffin tin.
Have your toddler match the X’s and O’s to the correct spot in the tin.
I got these X and O erasers from Michaels last Valentine’s Day, but you could also use magnetic letters or sticky notes that you write the letters on!
2 Counting
For this activity, write the numbers 1-5 (or any numbers, really) on the muffin tin. Provide your toddler with some manipulatives to count (we used erasers, but candy hearts, foam stickers, or table scatter would work too!). Let your toddler count and fill the muffin tin!
3 Color Sort
For this activity, we used foam and felt heart stickers we got from the dollar tree. I wrote the colors on one side of the muffin tin and had my toddlers sort the color on the other side.
4 Small, Medium, and Large Hearts
We have been doing a lot of Big and Small sorts, so we decided to try adding in medium. My youngest toddler is not quite 2 yet, and this was definitely over her head, but she still enjoyed putting the hearts in the muffin tin…even if they weren’t quite in the right spot!
5 Matching Activity
For this activity, we used erasers and pipe cleaners. I put erasers on the muffin tin and their matching pair on the other side. I had my toddler use pipe cleaners to match the erasers. This is a fun hands-on matching activity!
