It’s nearly Valentine’s Day, so I’m here to share some of our favorite Low Prep Valentines activities for toddlers and preschoolers!
1. Candy Heart Numbers
This is a fun activity to do with your toddler and those candy hearts that you’ll inevitably buy! For this activity, you’ll need to print these cards and provide your toddler with candy hearts. Your toddler will need lots of focus and strong fine motor skills to place the candy hearts into the hearts within each number.
If your toddler is not ready to build the number, you can count the candy hearts instead. My toddler also LOVES building towers from the candy hearts.
MOM TIP: Just call them hearts. My toddler didn’t even realize they were candy until after a few activities!
2. Trace The Line
This is a great activity to do with your toddler or preschooler and is easily adaptable depending on the level of your toddler. I think my favorite part of this valentines activity is how low prep it is. All you do is print! If your toddler is struggling, you can draw the line first and have your toddler try to copy you. If your toddler is a tracing master, they can cut on the lines instead with safety scissors!
3. Valentine’s Patterns
Practice building patterns with your toddler with this fun and valentines activity. I also love doing this with Valentine’s Day mini erasers! Patterns can be tricky so start at the beginning. First, your toddler should master AAA patterns, then ABAB patterns!
4. Valentine’s Color Sort
We love a good color sort in our house, and this one didn’t disappoint. It comes with colored hearts that you can cut out but we prefer to use heart foam stickers from the dollar store! My toddler loves using a “real” manipulative…as I’m sure most toddlers do!
Another fun twist to this is to have your toddler use tongs to sort the hearts!
5. I love you to pieces FREEBIE!
This craft is the CUTEST and it’s loved by toddlers! AND, it’s easy to prep!
Once you print out the document, cut out the heart in the middle.
Place the paper on contact paper so that you can feel the sticky part through the heart. Don’t have contact paper? I’ve also used glad press and seal wrap in a pinch!
Then, cut up some construction paper in festive colors and let your toddler add the pieces!
We can’t wait to see what activities you choose to set up this Valentine’s Day. If you choose one of our low prep valentines activities for your toddlers, be sure to let us know!
